Accessible HTML Tables
A table is structured data, not a visual grid. Use <caption> for the topic and <th scope> for headers so screen readers can associate cells with headers.
Basic structure
<caption> for the table title; <thead>/<tbody> for grouping.
Use <th scope="col"> or scope="row" for headers.
What not to do
Do not use tables for page layout.
Do not skip headers and stack td cells.
FAQ
Is caption required?
Not strictly required, but strongly recommended; aria-label can substitute.
What about complex tables?
Use scope/headers associations or split into simpler tables.
